San Francisco Pride Accessibility Guide

Written by Marcy Clark | June 21, 2024

Friendly Like Me is honored to present the official Accessibility Guide for San Francisco Pride, 2024! One of the world's largest, oldest, and most iconic Pride celebrations, SF Pride has been a destination event rooted in protest and held in a city long committed to being a haven for the LGBTQ+ community since 1970.

The 2024 San Francisco Pride Festival is this Saturday & Sunday, June 29th- June 30th.  The Parade begins on Sunday, at 10:30 am, at Market near Beale Street and continues to the San Francisco Civic Center.  This parade runs for approximately four hours, so arrive early to find the best place to see it all! The free Celebration at Civic Center Plaza is on Saturday and Sunday from 11 am to 6 pm, with tickets available for a Saturday morning Pride Breakfast

In addition to the plethora of Accessibility Amenities outlined below, SF Pride’s outstanding team has a live chat so guests can plan their visit and ask questions LIVE before, during, and after the event. Visit  sfpride.org.  The Parade and Celebration are free and donations are welcome and encouraged.

Transit

Several streets close for the Pride Parade and Festival. BART and MUNI are running, there are some MUNI and Bus re-routings downtown.

  • MUNI - If you're marching in the Parade, Embarcadero Station is nearest to the formation areas. If you're going to watch the Parade, Civic Center, Powell and Montgomery stations are all along the Parade route. The Civic Center BART and MUNI stations are closest to the Festival Entrance.
  • The 49 Bus stops along Van Ness towards Market Street approximately every 10-15min.
  • BART - Knowing how important BART Accessibility is for Pride we are hopeful that the elevators at the Civic Center station will be working. The elevators at Civic Center BART are big enough for wheelchair and power chair users and they arrive at street level very close to where the Accessible Parade viewing area is at Market between 7th and 8th.
        • If for some reason the Civic Center BART elevator is not working, the closest one is Powell Street BART. You can see information on BART Elevator Service Alerts here and on the BART App. https://www.bart.gov/stations/elevators
  • Para-Transit - If you have confirmed eligibility for Para-Transit, you may schedule a ride online at the SF Access Online website.  To learn more, visit How to Use SF Access Online.  You may also schedule a ride by calling the SF Paratransit Reservations Office at 415.285.6945.
        • Visitors are advised to call SF Paratransit at 1-415-351-7050 before a visit to San Francisco. Visitors may present information about their use of complementary para-transit services in the jurisdiction in which they reside.
